I am not able to record with xbox game bar and when ever I open it I am getting this error "Gaming features aren't available for windows desktop or file explorer"

Hi!

I'm trying to record my desktop using the xBox game bar. After I launch Game Bar, the option to record is greyed out. I get the error message "Gaming features aren't available for windows desktop or file explorer". I have enabled everything related to XBox Game Bar in Settings.

I've tried all the suggested steps at this website:

and also tried this from MicroSoft:

Have you tried to reinstall the app using PowerShell? To do that open a PowerShell Windows in Administrator mode and run the following command:

Get-AppXPackage -allusers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}

Do I need to go pay a computer repair person to figure this out for me? I'm really stumped! I've loaded this whole media package thing and still nothing....

Thank you for trying to help.

I have taken all the steps above, and now the Game Bar is back to where I started: it won't record at all, even without sound. I'm once again getting the message:

"Gaming features aren't available for the Windows desktop or File Explorer"

I am trying to find an alternative to Zoom for recording computer demonstrations. Xbox Game Bar is one of those recommended by Microsoft, but I'm afraid it's yet another program that maybe used to function that no longer exists as a viable option. I wish I'd known that before I spent so many days trying to make it work.

I'm stumped! Is there anyone who can recommend some way of recording a desktop demonstration? I've tried third-party software, none of them have worked yet. Maybe Zoom is the only company who's managed to make it actually work?

Edition Windows 10 Pro
Version 21H2
Installed on ‎12/‎9/‎2020
OS build 19044.1586
Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 120.2212.4170.0

Maybe Xbox Game Bar just isn't compatible with my computer for some reason? I can no longer get it to do anything at all : )
