Windows 10: Gaming Laptop Keeps Dropping Direct X and thereby crashing my games

Hello, I currently have an Asus K501UW that has two device adapters.


1. Intel(R) HD Graphics 520

2. NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M


They came with the laptop. The NVIDIA one is most likely the one for gaming, but for whatever reason it switches over to the Intel(R) one, crashing DirectX and subsequently my game.


I have talked to ASUS and they claim that it may be Windows 10 causing the cards to swap.

Games keep crashing on Windows 10.

I would like to inform that the games which were working in previous Operating System may or may not work in Windows 10 due to compatibility issues. I suggest you to check for the latest version of the games which are not working, check compatibility
with Windows 10 and install. If the latest version is not available or if the games are not compatible, suggest you to install the games in compatibility mode by following the steps provided below:

• 
  Download the setup files for the game nd save it on your local disk.
  
• 
  Right click on the setup file of the game and select
  “Properties”.
  
• 
  Select “Compatibility” Tab.
  
• 
  Place a check mark next to“Run this program in Compatibility mode” and select operating system from the drop down list.
  
• 
  Let the game install and then check thefunctionality.

Game didn't detect direct x

my laptop cant run some game but a while ago it can, i dont know what triggered it the game didnt detect my direct x but when i open the dxdiag its still there

 

Direct X 12 is installed but not supporting games which require Direct X 9

In order to assist you better, I would like to ask some questions.

1.Are you using the latest version of the game?

2.Are all the updates and latest drivers installed?

I suggest to run the game in compatibility mode by following the steps below and check if it helps.

1.Right click on the ‘Setup’ icon for the game and click on properties.

2.Under Compatibility tab, check the option for ‘Run in Compatibility mode’.

3.Select Windows 10 from the drop down list.

4.Click on Apply and then OK.

You can also update the graphic card driver and check if it helps.


Follow the steps below to update the graphic card:

1. Press Windows key+ X.

2. Select device manager and select graphic card.

3. Right click on the driver and click update.
