  2. Laptop cuts audio when Alt-Tabbing

    Hi, A. McEwan

    Welcome to the Microsoft Community.

It sounds like you're experiencing an audio issue related to your laptop's behavior during certain tasks. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve this problem:

    1. Update Audio Drivers: Visit the HP support website for your specific laptop model and ensure that you have the latest audio drivers installed. Sometimes outdated drivers can cause issues with audio playback and input.
    2. Disable Audio Enhancements:
      • Right-click on the speaker icon in the taskbar, select "Sound settings," and then click on "More sound settings."
      • Find your default playback device, right-click on it, and select "Properties."
      • Go to the "Advanced" tab and uncheck the checkbox in front of "Enable audio enhancements" to see if it improves the audio stability.
    3. BIOS and Firmware Updates: Check for any available BIOS or firmware updates for your HP Omen 16 laptop. Sometimes system firmware updates can address hardware-related issues.
    4. Restart Audio Services: Open the Windows Task Manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc), go to the “Services” tab, and restart the following services:

      Windows Audio

      Windows Audio Endpoint Builder
    5. Check other social software besides Discord or software that uses audio (such as conferencing software and music software) to see if the same audio cutting problem exists.

If the issue persists, consider reaching out to HP support or the support team for the specific audio hardware on your laptop. They may have additional troubleshooting steps or be aware of known issues related to your particular hardware configuration.

Given that you've already performed a full reset of your laptop without success, it's important to explore these specific troubleshooting steps to isolate and potentially resolve the audio cutting issue. Additionally, keeping your system and drivers up to date is crucial for optimal performance and stability.

Audio Cutting out when in Games

For some reason whenever I am in games my audio will randomly cut out for a few seconds and then come right back. However, if I am listening to a youtube video or on a voice call with someone at the same time my game audio will cut out, but the audio from the video/call won't. I have tried updating drivers, messing in the properties of my headphones in sound settings, and even checking the HD Audio connection on my motherboard. This issue also only just started after I installed a new CPU and GPU into my machine, so I am thinking it's connected. Any suggestions?

  4. Gaming Laptop's Audio Cutting Out After Windows Update

Audio cuts out when I start playing games.

    Hi Covo,

I'm glad disabling the microphone in the "recording" tab helped! It suggests that there might be a conflict between the headset's audio output and its microphone input, causing the audio to cut out when both are active simultaneously.

If after trying these steps the issue still persists, it might be worth reaching out to Sony support for further assistance. They may have specific troubleshooting steps or updates that can help resolve the issue with the microphone enabled.

    Your Sincerely
