To everyone from Nokia: N73 on NSU??

Well, I think the page simply is not updated or something coz when you select the model itself you get 'Beschikbaarheid: 3e kwartaal 2006' (For the non-dutchies this means 'Availability: 3rd quarter 2006').

Anyway, the N73 is already available worldwide so they really should include it soon. The N93 is also on there, running the same OS as the N73 so the OS shouldn't be an issue either. No idea what is though Gartner: Worldwide PC Shipments Declined 7.7 Percent in 3rd Quarter :(

Gartner: Worldwide PC Shipments Declined 7.7 Percent in 3rd Quarter

    Hi there

who ever reads - much less actually takes any notice of GARTNER -- most of their rubbish could be predicted more accurately by simply GUESSING. In any case if you have a mature market what do you expect --that shipments keep rising -- if they do it actually doesn't say much for the quality of the original products if they need to be replaced that often.

I'm running W10 very successfully on a number of PC's that are at least 6 years old - and all they've had as an upgrade has been to fit them with SSD's - a worthwhile upgrade.

I might well get a new Surface Pro 4 later --that's a specialized non mass market piece of kit.

Just IGNORE GARTNER --absolute rubbish -- and even if shipments of PC's are falling (I don't know what other outcome one should expect in a mature market) it doesn't mean that the numbers of people USING them has declined -- even if they use them less--a lot of people surf the net on phones etc - but you still need PC's for sensible real work situation applications.

Another piece of useless GARTNER reporting -- W10 has made very little difference to the nr of shipments of PC's --- well that should be so bleedin' obvious that why they even bother to waste print in writing those words just beats me.

If Ms was giving away W10 for FREE and with millions joining an essentially NO COST W10 insider program why in the world what they expect W10 to drive PC sales forward. W10 runs nicely (perhaps too nicely some might say) on quite old and modest PC kit so there's no need to go out and buy new gear if you don't want it.

So GARTNER --please eat the proverbial and DIE.

Sadly though some managers actually read GARTNER's 100% forays into pure Bovine Scatology and even worse believe them.

    Cheers

I also upgraded my HP laptop and my desktop to Windows 10 from Windows 7. Their were a few problems be nothing that couldn't be resolved with a few Google searches. I would have expected Windows 10 to have a positive result in PC sales since many people need new computers and they did not want to purchase Windows 8. Perhaps part of the problem is people wanting to wait until they feel Windows 10 has matured. Also, more people are relying on portable devices and do not see the need for an up to date PC.

In many circles he is regarded with much esteem. It's like choosing to either listen to CNN, Fox, NBC (or those BBC tabloids LOL) or others, they all have their particular spin.

I think the decline was expected. First, there's the free upgrade so fewer people would replace their PC's when moving to Windows 10. Second, Windows 10 is new and many people wait a couple of months before moving to a new version of Windows. And third, it's the quarter before the Xmas sales begin. Yes, that was true in 2014 too but this year, unlike last, there's an exciting new version of Windows on the market. I know that if I hadn't had to replace my PC in Sep due to problems I'd have waited to replace it, probably during the 'Black Friday' sales (which now occur the entire month of Nov it seems). Last year I had a PC with Windows 7. As long as it was working why would I replace it? The new PCs (then) came with Windows 8 (or maybe 8.1, don't remember upgrade dates on a version to which I paid essentially no attention). So yes, even without market research I think I could have predicted that sales of new PC's would be down. The only thing Garner's research added was the amount.

So many people only need a smartphone or tablet to do what they need to do on the Internet. Pc's aren't needed anymore for facebook, email, amazon shopping, google searching, music, videos, games, and porn.

Oh geez if I want to build one last PC to replace this nearly seven year old box I'd better get on it!

There is a lot of evidence to suggest that is the truth, I think Microsoft are panicking as fewer and fewer of the market want to buy a windows product, and why should they when Apple and Android are producing vastly superior Operating Systems for these devices, I always get the feeling that Microsoft are a step behind, and with Windows 10 have lost touch completely with reality. In fact right now I'm using Linux because of privacy concerns, and using Windows to play PC games and run an Android emulator. In fact if I could I would delete all but a few windows based Apps on my PC.

. . .WHAT. . .Panicking over what? If Apple, Android, or even Linux are so superior then why aren't they in the lead in desktop Operating System. . .this appears to be just another. . .?????

Microsoft clearly has a dominant position in the desktop market. However their lead in total computer devices (in you include smartphones, notepads, etc) has shrunk greatly. Even Apple has slightly increased their share in desktop device compared to Microsoft. Microsoft could have been a dominant player in the Smartphone market but due to mismanagement they were not quick enough to do that. I feel Windows 10 is a very good product and hopefully it will evolve into a great product.
