Windows 10: Gateway gwtc116-38 froze. Did restart, screen on, frozen and will not power off.

Gateway gwtc116-38 froze, Convertible tablet. Was able to pull up restart. Screen came up with background and time but also has windows for weather, markets and traffic. Never had that before so looks like there was an update? Well, now no response from either touchscreen or keyboard. Nothing. Will not power off. Have unplugged it, have to wait it out. No promise once battery drained will work though. So was it update? I was working and freeze! Now everything's frozen. Aren't even articles on laptops that will not turn OFF! And of course I've held the power button. A lot. I've hit every button
