  1. Gave full control to system and can't change permissions

I somehow gave full control to my system and can't access and files or apps or anything...can't even open settings...file explorer or anything...I managed to get to CMD and ran the built in administrator account by shift restart and running safe mode. I restart and click the administrator account to sign into it and I'm stuck at the sign in screen as it never actually logs in. Please help...

Run System Maintenance troubleshooter on the computer and check if any issue found. To do so, kindly follow the below given steps:

    • Press Windows and X key together and select
      Control Panel.
    • Click on Troubleshooting.
    • Click on View all option on the left side of the Windows.
    • Click on System Maintenance option.
    • Click on Next and follow the onscreen instructions to troubleshoot the issue.

    Method 2:

I suggest you to perform the below given steps and check if it resolve the permission issue.

    • Right click on the file and click on Properties.
    • Click on Security, check Owner should be "SYSTEM" in
      Advance tab.
    • Now check the save for C:\Users\<username>
    • Owner should also be "SYSTEM"
    • Check the users you signed into windows as (should be your Microsoft account) should be in the "Permissions entries" list with "Full Contol"
    • If not, Add the user you are logged in as.
    • All the folders and sub-folders below should be "owned" by the user you are logged into windows with
importantly, have a permissions entry for "full control"
    • Check for all the related folder where you are getting same error, but for some reason that same user is missing a "Permission Entry". Add a "full control" entry for the user and you should be able to save to that folder
      and all sub-folders

Hope this information helps. Post back with updated issue details for further help.

    Thank you.

  3. System Permission required

    Hi Peter,

The message that you've encountered when deleting the USERS folder can be due to a permission set on it. To change the permission of the affected folder, follow these steps:

    • Right click the the parent folder.
    • Select Properties.
    • Select the Security tab.
    • Click Edit to change the permission.
    • Select the new owner, and then put a check mark in the Full
      control box.
    • Click Apply, then OK.
    • Once you're done, the folder can now be deleted.

Let us know should you need further assistance.

  4. Gave full control to system and can't change permissions

How to change security permissions on multiple photos?

    Hi

    Welcome to Microsoft community.

It sounds like you are encountering difficulty changing the security permissions for individual photos within folders on your old laptop. Here's a method to change the permissions for multiple files at once:

    1. Take Ownership of the Entire Photo Folder:
      • Right-click on the folder containing the photos and select "Properties."
      • Go to the "Security" tab and click on "Advanced."
      • Click on "Change" next to the owner's name and type your username in the box, then click "Check Names" and "OK."
      • Check the box that says "Replace owner on subcontainers and objects" and click "Apply" and then "OK."
    2. Change Permissions for the Entire Folder:
      • Go back to the "Security" tab in the folder's properties and click "Edit."
      • Select your user account from the list and click "Edit."
      • Check the box that says "Full Control" and click "Apply" and then "OK."
    3. Apply Permissions to All Files and Subfolders:
      • Once you have taken ownership and changed the permissions for the entire folder, you can apply these changes to all files and subfolders within it.
      • Go back to the "Security" tab and click "Advanced."
      • Check the box that says "Replace all child object permission entries with inheritable permission entries from this object" and click "Apply" and then "OK."
By following these steps, you should be able to take ownership of the entire photo folder, change the permissions for the folder and its contents, and ensure that you have access to all the photos within it.

Please note that changing security permissions can have implications for the security and privacy of your files, so exercise caution and ensure that you are comfortable with the changes you are making.

    Best regards
