    General Venting - Move OS between drives


    Desktop PC's live in a world of change and expansion. Here we are at Windows 11 and Microsoft still has not provided a way to migrate the OS from one drive to another without either cloning the entire drive image or reinstalling from scratch which means now all 60+ programs would need to be reinstalled.... with all updates...While there are third-party partition apps that seem to support it on paper anyway, they do not work unless the new drive is at least the full size or higher of the old drive, despite the fact that Windows 10 64 Bit is only 20 GB installed. I just want to move my OS off

    DVD Drive issues.

    The games used to run, now apparently the disks don't even read.

    Go to Device Manager and remove the DVD
    Scan for hardware changes and update driver as OS suggests

    Still not working?

    1) Clean the heads.
    2) Run a diagnostic program on the drive.

    Nothing else has changed about your system aside from the OS?

    Revert to XP Home, assuming you don't find the source of the problem in steps above.
