Generic PnP/Can't adjust monitor resolution correctly.

    Hello.

My computer currently has 3 monitors connected to it. 2 through the graphics card (R9 280), 1 through the integrated graphics (AMD HD 3000). Not sure when why or how, but the integrated graphics card can never pick up what type of monitor is connected to it... so it always gives me a bunch of generic 4:3 resolutions...

I've tried uninstalling the drivers and letting them reinstall. I've tried swapping around the cables to see if i could get lucky with one of the other screens, but they all face the same issues. I've tried buying brand new cables across the board because sometimes people say that's the issue. But not success.

The cloest thing i have is apparently a custom resolution setter, but it was created for windows 7 in mind and doesn't seem to work on windows 10 (PowerStrip).

My question is, is there anyway to format the list so i can select the correct resolution? It's a Toshiba TV/Monitor and it seems like every thing else attached to my pc (even 3rd party programs i tried to use to forcably change the resolution) can spot it and hand me back the correct resolution but i can't seem to change it. I get Genertic pnp through the control panel (the only place the monitor shows up in) and even then the correct driver doesn't show, it's the Microsoft Generic driver.

Mobo: MSI AMD 3000 series, cant find exact model.

I've updated my AMD drivers to the latest and so far can only modify the resolution to stock ones that look horrid on the screen.

So Again, i'd appreciate it if anyone knows of a program in windows 10 to change the resolution of a screen/anything else you can think of.

Thanks for any help at all.

  2. How can I change the resolution of the Generic pnp monitor?

I want to automate browser test on a windows, and the machine has no physical monitor.

I use ssh to execute automation commands on this windows desktop remotely, and it uses the Generic pnp monitor by default.

The problem is the resolution of the Generic pnp monitor is too low, 1024x768, which is not enough to hold a browser for normal use, so many web elements are out of visible area and the tests can't run normally. We need at least 1920x1080 resolution to run
    tests correctly.

I have not find out how to change the resolution of Generic pnp monitor. Could you please help me?

Is there a way to change the resolution of Generic pnp monitor. to 1920x1080?

Or how can I solve my problem with windows in other ways?

Using a TV as a monitor, the edges of the screen are cut off. How can I make it fit properly?

I use my TV(Panasonic Viera) as a monitor, with the resolution being 1920 x 1080. When I upgraded to Windows 10, the edges of the screen became cut off. Prior to upgrading, the display settings box would list the monitor as "Panasonic Viera", but now it
says "Generic PnP". Is there an adjustment I can make to get it to fit?

Generic PnP/Can't adjust monitor resolution correctly.

Try running detect display in catalyst control center. If that doesn't work, how comfortable are you editing the registry?

In CCC go to software and find the registry path for the 2D driver. Then open regedit with admin rights and follow that registry path. Find entry "DALNonStandardModesBCD1" (BCD1 means monitor 1, BCD2 is monitor 2, you'll have to make an educated guess which is which). Right click on it and select modify, and on a new line type in your desired resolution:

    Examples:
    14 40 09 00 00 00 00 60
    (1440 x 900 x 60Hz)

    19 20 10 80 00 00 00 120
    (1920 x 1080 x 120Hz)

Afterwards go to device manager and disable/reenable the display adapter (or reboot the computer), then go to CCC>desktop management>advanced display settings and select your resolution.

I still think you should be able to find a better way to do this, and I would only use this as a last resort Generic PnP/Can't adjust monitor resolution correctly. :p I mean if you used to be able to set this resolution and can't now that's one thing. but if your IGP isn't made to handle that kind of res you might end up with some problems. I can't look it up without the specific model number but if it's the one I think it is it's really weak, so do this at your own risk and good luck *Biggrin
