Windows 10: Get rid of hijacker - CCleaner, Spybot S&D, Malwarebytes no help

Somehow I got one of those browser hijacker's on my windows 10 pro machine and this has happened once or twice before. In the past the steps were pretty much to go to the 'extensions' part of chrome and find it and disable/remove it and run ccleaner, Spybot S&D, and malbytes anti-malware and at least 1 of the 3 of those would fix it. However, I did those steps and it is still there. Present in Chrome and Edge.. limiting functionality and turning links into redirects.. Any help?

I also uninstalled the suspected program.

Defender detects another AV that doesn't exist and won't turn on.

Hello quietman7.... I am using the free version of Malwarebytes. I uninstalled Spybot S&D and that took care of the problem. Thank you for your speedy response.

To get rid of browser hijacker.

Next time it appears open Task Manager, under Processes Tab highlight page and click on End Task, then shut down computer.

"Turn OFF router" to disconnect computer from internet.

If it is a page capturer, next time you fire up your router you will have got rid of it.

 

In addition to simrick's advice ....
Please download and run the following tool

Download Temp File Cleaner (TFC) by Oldtimer

• Save your work and close all open windows.
  
  
• Restart your machine in case there are any system operations pending
  
  
• Navigate to your Downloads folder
  Right click on TFC
  Select Run as administrator
  
  
• Press the start button in the TFC window
  TFC begins cleaning up temporary files and folders.
  
  !!!!! Do not work on other things while TFC is running !!!!!
  Most applications use some sort of temporary files
  
• Restart your machine immediately after TFC completes

TFC is not a malware scanner, it simply cleans up known temp locations where malware might lurk. Think of it as a lightweight single purpose Disk Cleanup.

Once the temp locations are clean - the other tools simrick advised do the heavy lifting.
