Windows 10: Getting 100mbps speed from 2.5gbe network card

Hi, I have a Windows 10 HP Pavilion 595-p0049. I am getting only 100mbps speed from my network card. I recently purchased a 2.5 gbe Realtek card it for my PC (already had a preinstalled 1gbe card, also from Realtek). The preinstalled card is getting 930mbps as tested on Speedtest, so my modem isn't an issue (I have a Cat6 cable). Both cards have their drivers updated to latest 2021 version from Realtek's website. I checked the Advanced family controller properties for the card, and there's a 2.5gbps Full Duplex option (however it's set to auto negotiation, as default). The network card was attached to a PCIE x16 slot. I am currently out of options and I have looked up only, but nothing came up. I would be grateful to anybody who can help me with this. Will attach screenshots below for troubleshooting assistance. I ran this command from powershell Code: Get-NetAdapter | SELECT name, LinkSpeed, fullduplex and got 1Gbps for Ethernet and 100mbps for Code: Ethernet 2 Please let me know if you need any further pics, help is much appreciated

I've bought a new Network switch of Gigabit and it changed my Network Connections speed to 1 Gbps but still not changed my internet test, it still gives under 100 Mbps.

Hi,
I upgraded my internet last week to 200/5 and the day I upgraded I couldn't reach above 100 Mbps.
I started to check why I couldn't and then I thought maybe it's my Network Card and then I just bought a new card and checked if it shows above 100mbps and still it was stuck under 100Mbps so I returned it to the store and stayed with mine because I checked my card and it's 10/100/1000.

I tried to manually set my card to Giga at Device Manager:





And still it showed me 100 Mbps:





I've already tried to update my card but still, nothing worked, I have windows 10 and CAT7 cable, I hope you will be able to help me guys, you're my last way.

 

Ethernet suddenly running at 100Mbps instead of 1000Mbps

Hi,

So, a few weeks ago I had some problems with getting 1000Mbps running (it ran at 100Mbps) on the motherboards ethernet port. It ended in me buying a PCI-E express card, and the connection started running at 1000Mbps.

The PCI-e card is of model TP-Link TG-3468.
The router is of model ASUS RT-AX82U.
My Windows Version is "Version 20H2 (OS Build 19042.746)"

Fast forward to yesterday, when I (unrelatedly) installed a switch between the router and a couple of other connected devices. I noticed that my desktop computer started running at 100Mbps again, and I can't get it to run at 1000Mbps. I'm not sure that it's related to me installing the switch (it shouldn't be).

Some things I've tried/other info:

• The desktop computer not getting gigabit speed is not connected to the switch - it's connected directly to the router.
• I tried connecting a Raspberry Pi 4 with the same cable that the desktop computer is using, and it gets 1000Mbps speed. So - the cable doesn't seem to be the problem.
• I tried switching the PCI-E slot that the gigabit card is installed into, and it doesn't make a difference-.
• I tried installing the latest drivers (both from TP-Link:s website, and Windows Update). No difference.
• I tried forcing gigabit speed in the settings of the adapter, but it still connects with 100Mbps.
• I tried connecting the desktop computer with a brand new cat 6 cable, and it still connects at 100Mbps.
• I think some Windows Updates was installed a few days ago. Don't know if it could be related.

Does anyone have any suggestions in getting my connection to run at 1000Mbps again?
