Windows 10: Getting a Critical Kernel-Power event preceeded by a volmgr event.

Hello,My PC has had issues in the past where it would randomly restart, and it got bad enough that I decided to upgrade almost my entire setup. The only things on my rig that are not brand new now is the CPU, GPU, and storage new RAM, motherboard, and PSU. I checked the new RAM with the Windows Memory Diagnostics Tool, and it didn't detect any problems. It had been a couple weeks and I had no issues so I thought I was in the clear, but my system recently rebooted unexpectedly and I can't find out why. Windows BSOD with Event 162 volmgr & Event 41 Kernel-Power

I am receiving regular BSOD errors with the error PFN_LIST_CORRUPT. In the event viewer I can see error event 162 volmgr & critical event 41 kernel-power occur at the time of the crash. The crash can occur at any time but seems to be more frequent when waking from inactivity.

I have completely wiped and re-installed windows 11, run restoro, sfc, windows memory diagnostic and 4 passes of memtestx86 with no errors found. I have also tried installing new RAM and I'm still getting the error.

Any suggestions as to the cause would be greatly appreciated.

Hello everyone,

While playing NBA 2k24, the game freezes then crashes to desktop. After a few minutes, my laptop shuts down on its own. In event viewer, it shows event 125 kernel power before getting critical error event 41 kernel power. Any thoughts on this? Thank you!

The kernel power event ID 41 error occurs when the computer is shut down, or it restarts unexpectedly. When a computer that is running Windows starts, a check is performed to determine whether the computer was shut down cleanly. If the computer was not shut
down cleanly, a Kernel Power Event 41 message is generated.



Try this, see if it works for you:

• Go to "Settings"
• Select "System"
• Select "Power and Sleep"
• Select "Additional Power Settings"
• Select "Choose what the power buttons do"
• Select "Change settings currently available"
• Ensure that "Turn on fast start up" is deselected (unticked)
• Click on "Save Changes"

Restart your computer after performing the steps.
