Windows 10: Getting a "side-by-side" error when I open my Logitech mouse settings application

I open the SetPoint application and it gives me the error message saying "The application has failed to started because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the applciation event log or use the command-line sxstrace.exe tool for more detail.


I contacted Logitech about this but they say that it's an issue related to the Windows OS so I should seek help from Microsoft.

Follow the steps below to change the settings of your mouse:

• Press Win+R on your keyboard.
• Type main.cpl on press Enter.
• A small window for your mouse settings will appear.

Hi Raj. I'm Greg, an installation specialist and 9 year Windows MVP, here to help you.

I would not keep any Logitech updater installed as these can and do cause issues and are unnecessary since the drivers will be pushed by WIndows Updates for the most part or are not urgent compared to the issues the bloatware can cause.
