    Getting a "The device is not ready" error when opening any program that requires admin...


    Firstly I would like to say, please don't tell me to "upgrade to Windows 10" or that "support for Windows 8.1 is ending", I'm very well aware of that and would upgrade if I could but my laptop doesn't have the specs for it.Now onto my issue, this all started about 2 weeks ago, I was trying to flash firmware onto my Samsung phone because the Android 12 update broke a few of my apps. In the end, it half succeeded half failed, the flash worked but my data was corrupted. So I just decided, might as well start again and reset everything, unknowingly that the reset would format my micro SD card too.

    Why did the startup window get cleared?

    I didn't missed any step, the list was gone and gone , even after using lot of programs the programs were not listed in that list.

    Get a Program to load immediately on Startup, + get it to auto-open

    When I start up the computer, various programs load ready to be opened. (These are listed in the startup folder). Always I want to look first at any new emails. I would like my mail program (Mail) to load as fast as possible and before others are loaded so that I can immediately open it while other programs are being loaded. I would also like to get Mail to open automatically ready to use.

    How can I get Mail to load quickly? and

    How can I get it to open automatically and immediately?
