  1. Getting a "The file is too large for the destination file system" error on a NTFS external HD

Hi,I was searching for a solution for this error and found out that it usually happens in a FAT32 format. In my unusual case, I'm getting this error although the external HD is already formatted tor NTFS. What can I do?

  2. Windows 11 - file is too large for the destination file system

I am continuously having problems moving data on to my hard disk due to file too large for the destination file system error.

    Few facts:

    - Both my hard disk partitions are NTFS, it gives the error when i move between partitions too.

    - The file i am copying from other shared folders are NTFS, still gives the error.

    - the file sizes are well below 1 gb

    - it gives error on all files regardless of file type jpegs, xls, doc, pfc etc.

Error "The type of the file system is NTFS"

I am having this problem as well with My Passport external HD. I have followed the instructions Harkanwar provided but I received the notice that "The type of the file system is NTFS" and the chkdsk does not progress even into stage 1.

    Any other suggestions?

Getting a "The file is too large for the destination file system" error on a NTFS external HD

    External NTFS HDD On PS3?

Is there a way to get a slim 160gb PS3 to read an NTFS external hard drive? It's just essentially a large USB key, no power supply, just plug and play.

It has all of my videos on it, and lately I've been having troubles with errors while using the PS3 Media Server software. I figured I should take advantage of the hard drive space and save the frustration of trying to troubleshoot networking settings and such.

Is there a way shy of formatting my hard drive into Fat32, to get the PS3 to read an NTFS external hard drive? I believe Fat32 doesn't allow files over 4gb to be stored or transferred or something, and I have some pretty large files that I would love to keep on the drive.
