    Getting an OEM Key bound to a used motherboard I recently bought, is it legal?


    It got Win 10 Home activated without asking for a key on used motherboard. Now if one person uses an OEM key, then gives the motherboard to other person, is it legal for him to activate win 10 through that OEM key bound to motherboard, also I have an ASUS H81M motherboard which I guess generates a key, so does it give better edition on better hardware or edition remains same.

    Is it legal to use Windows 10 OEM Key on a custom built computer?

    It is not legal. OEM key is tied to the motherboard and can not be used on another motherboard.

    I am doubtful whether those keys will work. They might expire after some time and you will land into troubles.

    I have seen many people selling oem windows key. Is it legal to buy and use oem keys?
