Windows 10: Getting blue screens -- DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE and SYSTEM_THREAD _EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED

Hi everyone, all day my laptop has been crashing. I've been getting these two errors:

• DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE
• SYSTEM_THREAD _EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED

I did some reading and figured out this was possibly related to an incompatible driver. The day before I had updated my Wacom tablet driver, so I thought that could be the culprit. I uninstalled the driver and reinstalled an old version, thinking it would help. But it didn't -- that's when the DRIVER POWER STATE FAILURE errors stopped and the SYSTEM THREAD EXCEPTION NOT HANDLED errors started. Not sure if that's related.


I can still log into Windows, but every now and then I'll just be working and the computer will freeze up then blue screen. It happened earlier when I disconnected my tablet and it also happens when I try to wake my laptop up after it's gone to sleep.


I also wonder if my NVIDIA driver might be the issue, but I really can't figure out how to diagnose this.


Here are my specs:

HP Spectre x360 Convertible 15-df0xxx

IntelR Core i78565U CPU @ 1.80 GHz 1.99 GHz

RAM: 16 GB

Windows edition: Windows 10 Home

Version: 1903


I'm trying to get my Minidump files but I'm being told I don't have permission to create a zip folder or upload the files to Dropbox. Not sure what's going on there. Tried to go through command prompt this way but something strange is happening:


C:\Users\ayman>net user administrator /active:yes

System error 5 has occurred.

Access is denied.


Any light you can shed on this nightmare would be extra helpful. Thank you so much!

Not over 5 minutes after the restart my pc has automatically restart with this

Stop Code : SYSTEM_THREAD _EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED what failed : iaStorAC.sys

Hi I have encountered this issue numerous times, my laptop(LENOVO Y530) just automatically restart with the iaStorAC.sys Stop Code : SYSTEM_THREAD _EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED. I have tried:

1.uninstalling intel rapid technology,

2.uninstall my graphic driver

3.update my graphic driver

4.disabled Intel Optane

This is the minidump folder : Minidump

Has anyone encountered this kind of issue as I have tried many method from the internet but to no avail, after few days my laptop will go into this restart loop again, usually I was able to use my laptop for 1 to 2 hours before it automatically restart.

In that case, I suggest you follow the below to fix the issue.

Fix #1

Step 1:

On the login screen click on Power icon on the right corner

Step 2:

Press Shift Key and press hold and then click Restart (This will restart the system in recovery mode)

Step 3:

In the recovery bluescreen options you’ll need to click (or tap) the Troubleshoot option

Step 4:

Click Advanced Options

Step 5:

Then click on Startup Repair

Let me know the status after performing the above.
