    Hello all! I had a bit of a problem with my drive a few years ago and am only activly trying to get the data off it now. I'm not totally sure what information is relevant, so I'm going to just throw it here.

    Drive = WD7500BPTV Name on my laptop is the F: drive, OS = Windows, I have it in an external case connected via usb to my laptop.

    When i look in Disk Management it shows the whole drive has a capacity of 698.51 GB with 670.19 GB of NTFS as the primary partition which holds all the data i want to get off of it. When I right click on the drive and click properties however, it says that it has a capacity of 59.9 GB with only 39.2 GB used. The thing is though, there is a tool online that once downloaded the trial was free, it could see all of the files that i wanted off it. I have no idea what happened and how it does it but when i looked at how much the tool was, it was way too expensive to retrieve all the data and it was a subscription, but i only need it this once. I would really appreciate if anyone could tell me a free alternative or a way to fix it as it has over 3 years of data on it Yes i have learnt my lesson and now create backups of all my hard drives! Thank you in advance for any attempts to help me, it really means a lot!

    WD Purple or Blue?

    My suggestion, avoid the Blues at all costs. I wouldn't trust my data on a WD Blue if WD was paying me to use it.
