Windows 10: Getting "Explorer.EXE Class not registered" error when trying to open many applications

I'm working on a new Windows 10 Professional desktop PC I've purchased two weeks ago. Now, suddenly, I cannot launch a LOT of applications. I tried to launch Windows Terminal, which I have pinned to my taskbar. It immediately popped up a message taht said:Explorer.EXEClass not registeredI'd show you a snapshot of it, but that too is not working.When I try clicking on the Cortana search textbox to type in "SNAP", the Cortana sarch textbox doesn't respond.When I press the Windows-E key sequence to bring up File Explorer, nothing happens.Something is very clearly wrong, and it really shouldn't be

This is happening in Firefox. I am using windows 8.1 Everytime i try to open the store i get error message from Explorer. exe "Class not registered". Can someone help with a fix, PLEASE?

I am running Edge on Windows 10 and just downloaded a program but when I try to open it I get the error message "class not registered" listed after the file name. And instead of the program just launching it asks
you how you want to save it. The file name in question is anica
file.

ex: C:\users\username\downloads\filename.ica

class not registered

Any ideas to root of problem is appreciated.
