1. Getting GPU driver and DPC Watchdog Violations

    Hi

for a while, 12 months, my PC has been restarting and going to the logon screen, this only happens when the PC is idle for a while, it has never happened while I was working with the PC.

Recently the 2TB Hard drive failed and was replaced with two 1TB drives, this seemed to fix the problem for a couple of weeks but then the PC wouldn't boot showing a "cannot find the device".

I opened up the case and tried booting with one drive connected and found that with drive 0 (boot drive) only connected the PC booted fine, but with both drive 0 and 1 the boot error happened, I replaced the drive 1 and the problem seemed to be fixed. Then it happened again and I was advised to prevent restarts on error and I got the GPU driver problem, I updated the driver and the problem seemed fixed again, now it has happened tice with the DPC Watchdog Violation error.

This is a summary of the recent events discussed here.
    PC Restarting by itself

Once again this only happens when the PC is idle for a while.

I have attached the Log file

    Regards

    Daniel

Getting GPU driver and DPC Watchdog Violations

The most recent BSOD still points to a graphics driver issue.

Code: ffff9c81`23186b60 fffff807`ded38000Unable to load image nvlddmkm.sys, Win32 error 0n2 *** WARNING: Unable to verify timestamp for nvlddmkm.sys *** ERROR: Module load completed but symbols could not be loaded for nvlddmkm.sys nvlddmkm+0x818000 1: kd> lmvm nvlddmkm Browse full module list start end module name fffff807`de520000 fffff807`df2ec000 nvlddmkm T (no symbols) Loaded symbol image file: nvlddmkm.sys Image path: nvlddmkm.sys Image name: nvlddmkm.sys Browse all global symbols functions data Timestamp: Sat Oct 22 05:55:42 2016 (580AF14E) CheckSum: 00D86301 ImageSize: 00DCC000 Translations: 0000.04b0 0000.04e4 0409.04b0 0409.04e4
Please update the NVidia driver. The best way to do this is to uninstall everything of Nvidia using Display Driver Uninstaller and install new drivers from your Graphics card manufacturer or from the NVidia website. When you do this be sure the "clean install" box is checked and only install the Graphics driver and the PhysX driver.

  6. Hi

I was really hopeful but it happened again today.

I was in the process of downloading a couple of small files, from a Train Sim site I use a lot, I walked away from the PC and
went out, when I came back after 2 hours the BSOD was showing.
The files had down loaded in my absence and are still zipped up.

    I have attached a log.

    regards

    Daniel

I've looked at your latest log files. Here are some of the findings:

Code: BugCheck 133, {1, 1e00, 0, 0} Probably caused by : Unknown_Image ( ANALYSIS_INCONCLUSIVE ) DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION (133) The DPC watchdog detected a prolonged run time at an IRQL of DISPATCH_LEVEL or above. fffff800`ff751950 fffff802`2924baf0Unable to load image bcmwlhigh664.sys, Win32 error 0n2 *** WARNING: Unable to verify timestamp for bcmwlhigh664.sys *** ERROR: Module load completed but symbols could not be loaded for bcmwlhigh664.sys bcmwlhigh664+0x1baf0 fffff800`ff7511e8 fffff802`2cc1874cUnable to load image nvlddmkm.sys, Win32 error 0n2 *** WARNING: Unable to verify timestamp for nvlddmkm.sys *** ERROR: Module load completed but symbols could not be loaded for nvlddmkm.sys nvlddmkm+0x5f874c
It would be worth looking for an updated Broadcom network adapter driver.

The only other thing I have noticed is that you are using 2 different types of memory. This is not advised since the dual channel memory feature will not function. You could try running with one removed and see if it makes a difference, or fit a matching pair.

  8. Getting GPU driver and DPC Watchdog Violations

    Hi

thanks for your help, I am unable to find any mention of a Broadcom adapter?

As soon as I get a chance I will open up the case and take the RAM sticks to the supplier and get it fixed, supplying a PC with differing RAM is just not on.

Meantime, if I get another BSOD, can I post again?

    Regards

    Daniel

I've looked at your latest event and it once again points to the graphics display adapter as mentioned in my first response. The Broadcom adapter mentioned earlier is a driver possibly for a USB wireless network adapter which may have another name but uses the Broadcom chip.
