Windows 10: getting "insufficient permissions" errors on multiple browsers when downloading files, Edge...

all of my browsers keep failing to install applications Ive been wanting to install for ease of use and monitoring HWMonitor, and Notepad++ to be specific, I keep getting an insufficient permissions error on chrome and operaGX, Edge can download the file but then proceeds to give me a movefile error when attempting to rename the downloaded file, which says access is denied. I am able to download basic stuff like a pdf just fine, but anything that needs to install something completely fails.This coincides with a file privilege error i get when updating/downloading on the Steam Application. Download issue with Edge browser

We appreciate you for being part of Windows 10.

I understand that you are not able to download any files through EDGE browser.

Follow the below steps and check if it helps.

Step 1:

I suggest you clear the Clear browsing data option of Microsoft Edge and check if you face the issue. To do so perform the steps below.

• Click on the More actions (…) icon next to the feedback icon present on top right corner of the Project Spartan homepage.
• Select Settings and click on Choose what to clear.
• Check the boxes Browsing history, Cookies and saved website data and Cached data and files and click on Clear.

Step 2:

• 
  Open the Task manager. Here’s a tip: Press CTRL+Shift+ESC.
  
• 
  Right click on Microsoft EDGE.
  
• 
  Go to details click on microsoftedgeCP.exe and click
  end task.
  

You have to repeat it few times it worked for me hope it will help you to reset the Microsoft edge browser.

The download option will be available on the EDGE browser at the top right corner. Click on Hub (three horizontal symbol) and click on Downloads, there you will be able to click on Downloads folder and check where the download
files are getting saved.

Downloading file in Edge creates erroneous file permissions

Hi John,

For better assistance, we'd like to know the following:

• Were there any changes made to your computer prior to this issue?

• Do you encounter the same issue with all the downloaded files through Microsoft Edge?

• Can you provide us a sample screenshot of the file with "Unknown User?"

Insufficient permissions

Recently Chrome stopped downloading files with a "Failed Insufficient permissions" message.
I tried Firefox with the same result.
I tried Opera and it worked... for a while, then it produced the same message.
Same for Internet Explorer and Edge.
I have run out of browsers and I now cannot download anything.
I can save web pages but I cannot download pdf, epub, csv, exe.
I have tried fooling it by changing the extension to mhtml or jpg but I get the same message.
I don't know why this has started happening recently.
Can anybody please explain and provide solutions, either in terms of restoring permissions or switching off UAC?
