  1. Getting Large amount of ads from a Download website and can't get rid of them

I recently searched for a program called WinUndelete and found it. There was a link to download the program, which took me to the website www.qpdownload.com. I installed the program WinUndelete from that site. Almost immediately, even before I was able to open the program and check it out, I started getting a large amount of ads from the download website. I was getting like 10 at a time.

On their website, I found info that said if I removed the program the ads would stop. But they have not stopped. They have a Contact Us link on their site which shows the email address as support [at] qpdownload.com, which obviously does not work, so I changed it to *** Email address is removed for privacy *** and sent a message, but it gave me a error.

I then tried to do several things to try to get these ads to stop. I searched my Registry for any entries containing QPDownload, I found one and deleted it. Still getting the ads. Next I searched my hard drive for entries of QPdownload and found one, which I deleted. I then restarted my computer. I am still getting these ads they are like notifications that come out in the lower right-hand corner of my screen, but now it is 4 in a row quickly, then it pauses for a few minutes and I get 4 more. How can I get this rogue ad program off my laptop?

I would really appreciate any help with this problem. I have worked with computers for more than 20 years, and I still can't get a handle on this problem.

    Thanks,

    Anne P.

    :)

how to get rid of shortcuts

    Hi Terry,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

I understand your concern regarding the issue that you are facing.

This shortcut will not affect your Internet Speed. For internet speed issue please follow the steps below.

Windows has a built-in troubleshooter to check and fix issues with Internet connection. I would suggest you to run this troubleshooter to check if the issue is with your internet.

    Refer these steps:

    • Press Windows key +X, select Control panel
    • Change the view by option on the top right to Large icons
    • Click on troubleshooting and click on the view all option on the left panel
    • Run the Internet Connection troubleshooter
    Method 2.

Try updating the Network Adapter drivers from the manufacturer's website and check if the issue persists.

Follow the steps to update the Network Adapter drivers:

    a. Press Windows key + X key and click Device Manager.

    b. Expand Network Adapter.

    c. Right-click on the Ethernet and click on Update driver software.

    d. Restart the computer and check.

    Issue: 10 broken shortcuts

You can get rid of this shortcuts by performing Disk cleanup, but if you perform Disk cleanup then you will not be able roll back to previous version. If you don’t want to go back to previous version then perform Disk Cleanup it
will remove the Windows.old file permanently.

Method 1: To open Disk Cleanup:

    a) Press Windows key + R

    b) Type: %windir%\system32\cleanmgr.exe

    c) Hit Enter on your keyboard

  3. I have a second "ghost" desktop in Windows 10. I do not know where or when it appeared and cannot get rid of it. How do I get rid of it?

Recently, a "ghost" desktop has appeared on my computer. It shows a list of a number of website tabs behind my desktop icons. Clicking on the exit "X" does not get rid of it. Nothing seems to get rid of it. Can anyone suggest a solution?

Getting Large amount of ads from a Download website and can't get rid of them

Win 10 How to get rid of Windows.old folder and content.

    *Think

As always, there seems to be lots of alleged fixes out there, which may work on versions earlier than Win 10... but not with Win 10. The struggle for getting rid of this now un-needed bloat seems to be wrapped up in file permissions. But even when I try to clobber it with administrative authority, it won't budge. One fix suggests that you can use disk cleanup to get rid of it by selecting previous installation files. Heh. Yeah. Just TRY and find that option in Win 10.

Ok. Somebody hopefully has managed to resolve this inigma. Step by step, please. Getting Large amount of ads from a Download website and can't get rid of them :)
