    How do I find the windows 11 product key on my new Dell XPS 8950 desktop? I would like to reinstall the OS on a second larger SSD card and make it the primary drive.

    Windows Defender repeated threat warnings despite repeated scans

    My laptop running Windows 10 has been giving me repeated threat warnings for the last few days. This started after I bought a new computer and signed it in to the home wifi network, but I have not directly connected the two computers.

    I get a notification from Windows Security that there are threats found. I then go through the "current threats", select an action, and tell it to run. Windows Defender does its thing, then says there are no threats, but then at some point the same warning start popping up again.

    I have fun a full scan multiple times and run Microsoft Safety Scanner a couple of times. The result is that they both say there is no threat, then they start appearing again. The files that are allegedly affected are the "setup.exe" file in a Windows 11 installation USB I created, and in some old email and mobile phone backups on an external hard drive that haven't been touched in years. Is there actually some set of trojans/viruses that can infect old files? Do they lie dormant and then pop up? Or is Windows Defender throwing up false positives on random files?

    The latest round of threats are Phish!MSR, O97M/Madeba.A!det, AndroidOS/Psneuter.A!MTB, and Win64/Expiro.DD!MTB. The Win64/Expiro.DD!MTB in particular keeps popping up and is allegedly in the setup.exe file on the USB stick which was created with the Rufus program.

    Virus and Threat Protection Warnings

    ETD_GetSMART.exe is HP Software and it is safe, that software is designed to check your hard drive for imminent failure and warn you

    You can add that to the list of safe files in Controlled Folder Access to get rid of this warning

    Open Windows Defender Security Center

    Go to Virus & threat protection - Virus & threat protection settings

    Scroll down to Controlled folder access

    From there, you can add an app to the list of safe or allowed apps to prevent them from being blocked

    ETD_GetSMART.exe is located in the following folder:

    C:\Program Files\Hewlett-Packard\HP Support Framework\Resources\HPActiveHealth\Executable Agent Data\_Shared\DiskCheck\
