Windows 10: Getting rid of Lock Screen?

Running same build - "Creators Update" - on 2 different machines, one Lenovo and one older Dell.
Before the Creators, at some point, after some unknown updates the Dell started to boot to Lock Screen. Click on it and normal Desktop appears. Lenovo still boots up from dead stop to Desktop without showing the Lock Screen.

Yes, I know about Netplwiz. This Dell doesn't ask for password, I only have to click on the (rather stupid) silhouette icon of my account. (Don't want any pictures on Lock Screen either). Local user, not MS account. I am the only user.

Is there any way to make Lock Screen stop from appearing on boot-up? Without going into DOS, BIOS etc, please, this is above my pay-grade, unless you provide exact and accurate line by line commands.

I recently bought an Acer Aspire R13 with Windows 10. The biggest nuisance so far is the caps lock indicator that flashes in the top middle of my screen every time I turn the caps lock on or off. It's
a total nuisance and I want to get rid of it ASAP. I found an answered query [Getting rid of caps lock popup in windows 7] that
matched my own almost verbatim, but it pertained to Windows 7 and the best solution [Posted 0904:23, 11 June 2015, by PSCollins 22] does
not track with the Windows 10 menus. Any suggestions?

Disabling the Caps Lock notification that pops up in your screen has different methods depending on the manufacturer of your computer.

There was a way of doing this in the Anniversary edition. I've no idea if it works in the CU.

(Just for interest it was published, for example, by Winaero and involved using a scheduled task. It could be applied with 1 click using Winaero's free tweaker. As I've not seen that it's been proven for the CU I'm not suggesting you should try it.)

 

Question: Are you using a local account on both machines?

If you have netplwiz set to have Windows automatically sign in to your account at startup, then you shouldn't be seeing the lock screen or sign in screen at startup.

Double check to make sure that you have require sign-in on wakeup turned off as well.

If you like, you can fully disable the lock screen.

This again leads to much feared Registry.

Plankton - I think my other machine runs on MS account (not local account) because this is my "work" machine, with Office and everything. Stupid question - how do I check this? *Smile... Though I doubt this is the reason for LS showing.

 

No need to mess with the registry yourself. *Smile

You can use the .reg from from step 4 in Option 5 of the tutorial below to disable require sign-in on wakeup.

The first method works.

I didn't try the 2nd method - Disable LS - because my build is 15xx Home, not 16xx, so the Tutorial says it wouldn't work for me.

End result is the same - eliminated unnecessary click on user icon after wake-up .
