Windows 10: Getting stuck on lock screen after exiting sleep mode

I currently have windows 10 on my HP laptop which I've owned for 2-ish years now and last night I began to have a problem with starting up my computer from sleep mode. After being closed for a few minutes and entering sleep mode my PC will open to the picture for my lock screen but the clock and the other icons won't come up and it won't let me go to the screen to put my password in. My mouse works and the arrow shows as going across the screen but after several minutes nothing happens.I have to force my computer off and restart it to log in.


The first time it happened after turning on it was it freezing and lagging until I updated to the newest version of windows 10. I thought my problem was fixed but the next time it went into sleep mode it did it again. I ran several of the built in scans that hp offers on their support app and ran several windows defender scans and they all came back saying my computer is problem free and that there are no updates needed. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Pc restart after exiting sleep mode

well if it works within 5min, sounds like it could be losing power

'restarts after exiting sleep mode' do you mean it acts like a fresh cold boot? or you see the windows logging off screens, then it restarts?

i never use sleep or hibernate, risk of losing the session & waste of hard drive space

 

Lock screen not working on sleep

To be able to lock your screen while on Sleep mode, you can follow these steps:

• Press the Windows key.
• Type Sign in and hit
  Enter.
• Select the option When PC wakes up from sleep under Require Sign-in.

Sleep mode and lock screen

I have disabled sleep mode but now do not have a locked screen. How can turn this function on. I have gone to settings but only sleep mode is available for locked screen. Thanks.
