Windows 10: Getting Unknown Hard error and unexpected parameter error on some apps and games crash with...

So out of nowhere recently I haven't been able to run any games due to them closing/crashing as soon as they start loading. I tried updating the graphics driver but no change.

Unexpected Crashes while gaming (hardware error?)

Hello, I have had this computer (Lenovo Legion y530) for about 2 years now and have had no issues up until last week. My laptop has been crashing without warning while I'm in the middle of playing video games (has happened on multiple different games by
different companies). This has been happening with increased frequency from the first occurrence to the point that I cannot complete a single match anymore. To try to fix this I cleaned out my fans/vents, updated the driver of my graphics card (GeForce GTX
1050 Ti), and made sure no other apps were running in the background while I was playing. These steps haven't solved the issue so here I am.

While looking through the reliability history for the majority of the crashes, it only reports "The previous system shutdown at (time) on (date) was unexpected." However for a few of them it didn't say anything about the shutdown and only that there was
a hardware error, one of those reports is below. Thank you in advance for any solutions/advice you can give me.

Random apps and games crashes with error 0xc0000005 and blue screens

Since the end of July 2019 my apps and games (including windows services) have been crashing randomly, the windows event log lists these crashes with error 0xc0000005, here's an example for the game Verdun (other apps and games crash with the same error):

I have also been having random blue screens with the errors PAGE_FAULT_IN_NON_PAGED_AREA and CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED.

I have used windows Driver Verifier and I managed to get some blue screens that point to the clipsp.sys driver but I don't think the content of the blue screen contains everything meaningful.

The crashes do not seem to happen in Safe Mode.

In the past months I have tried almost everything:

• Clean boot
• Updated windows to latest version
• Used all tools to check integrity or corruption like sfc, chkdsk, ecc.
• Clean reinstalled windows multiple times
• Replaced RAM modules
• Replaced motherboard

The crashes still happen. Since I have no idea what is causing these crashes my next step will be replacing the CPU...

 

Unknown Hard Error

Hi All,

I have been trying to resolve various issues with W10 (see other posts) and have been trying to use Safe mode to rule out possible configuration abnormalities.


However, on both of my test machines, I get an error dialog titled:
explorer.exe - System Warning
with the content showing a yellow triangle and the wording Unknown Hard Error
... preventing me getting into Safe mode.

here's a pic (note I have moved the dialog to show the start button in the same view)




Any clues?

As I said, this happens on both machines; one is a Dell 9150 desktop and the other a dell E6520 laptop. Other than this problem, the E6520 works fine in normal mode, although the desktop has other problems with an explorer crash/restart loop at startup.
