Ghost drives showing in windows explorer

I have 2 "Removable Disk" drives showing in windows explorer that do not exist. They persist through shutdown and restarts. I have not been able to find any way to get rid of them. If I try opening them I get the following error: Location is not available F:\ is unavailable. If the location is on this PC, make sure the device or drive is connected or the disc is inserted, and then try again. If the location is on a network, make sure you’re connected to the network or Internet, and then try again. If the location still can’t be found, it might have been moved or deleted. If I try right c

    Remove Ghost drive

I have a ghost CD drive with letter "I" which only shows in Win 10 File Explorer. This drive is not seen in Disk Management, or Device Manager ( with all hidden drives shown) or in DiskPart Volume list.
Can anyone please advise how to remove this? It looks like the icon for that drive is the icon used for Power Iso software, which is quite different to the icons used in File Explorer for my two physical DVD drives. I opened PowerIso, but could not see any Cd drive. I unmounted all drives and re-booted my PC, ghost CD drive still appears in File Explorer

    Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK

How can I remove ghost drives in File Explorer?

After I worked with an external macOS drive with several HFS+ partitions and unplugging it (I was using HFS+ app for Windows to view Mac drives connected to USB), I got these phantom drives on File Explorer.

What I've already tried to no avail:

    - Remove from disk management: they don't show up there!.
    - Remove with Admin Command Prompt: diskpart (enter)
list volume...etc. Doesn't show up there either!.

    What can I do?

Thanks in advance for any help *sarc
