Windows 10: Ghost keyboard Layout

Hey guys,

I Installed my new computer two months ago with Windows on it and since 2 weeks I have a new layout keyboard that came on my computer (Qwerty). Since my keyboard is not a Qwerty I want to get rid of it because sometime while using Windows I switch layout and it's a bit messy.

I already tried to go in the languages settings to the check the keyboard installed and I have only one (Azerty) which is my keyboard layout.

Does anyone have an idea on where this Qwerty layout could be deactivated/deleted?

Cannot remove Keyboard Layout

Hi,

It is possible that you need to configure your keyboard layout that is why you still see it in the list even you already remove it. To address your issue, we suggest that you follow the steps on this

thread provided by DikkeryDok last October 27, 2017 to remove the specific keyboard layout you are referring to.

Wrong keyboard layout in login page after update to 1607

Hi,

Since the issue reoccurred after updating to anniversary update, I suggest you to reconfigure the QWERTY keyboard layout and check if the same issue persists. This is to check if the issue is with Windows 10 1607 update.

I suggest you to follow the steps below to configure the keyboard layout:

• Open Settings and click on Time and Language.
• Click on Region and Language.
• Add the Country and click on add a language and select the language of your choice.
• This will take time to download the pack.
• Once this is done, Press Windows key + Space and press Space key to choose the keyboard layout.

Ghost keyboard layout

When I attempt to build a keyboard layout inside MSKLC 1.4, I get this message: "The keyboard name 'xxxx' is already in use on this machine".

But there is no longer such keyboard layout. I can't find it in program & features, the registry or in the c:\windows\system32\ folder. Yet it pops up in Region & language setting, when adding a keyboard. I have had this problem (with various keyboard layouts)
on and off many times, without any apparent cause. Usually, I am forced to change the name of my keyboard layout slightly before it works.
