  2. How does one run a "Null service"? (missing /dev/null)

I still haven't received a single reply from "Git for Windows" developers or community.

Since I have Windows 10 and the anniversary update. Might as well use "Bash on Ubuntu on Windows". Works great, though my Batch file for launching git might not be advanced in enough for every case. In case someone is interested, here is my git.bat to use
    after installing Bash:

    @echo off

    set a=%*

    set a=%a:\=/%

    bash -c 'git %a%'

  3. Windows10Upgrade Folder on C:

In case you can not delete any folder by Windows tool, you can try ti install
    Git Bash
, then you press Windows button on your keyboard, and type Git. You must open git bash with Administrator.

After that, you cd to C:, and type command line "rm -rf Windows10Updgade" then prompt enter button, wait for some seconds => Done.

    Hope it can help you.

    Hello sml156,

    Many thanks for your input.

I first applied KB4054022 and as that didn't solve any issues, applied the KB4054517 (Delta version - whatever that means!). To this it said that this update is not applicable to my version. I then checked further on the site and found a 'Cumulative' version (KB 4056892), which I installed and to this it said the this was already installed! In all the cases it did not ask to 'Reboot', but I did that anyway hoping it would show the change in 'winver' or 'About' under System as Version 1709 OS Build 16299.192, but unfortunately it doesn't - it is still is Version 1709 OS Build 16299.125. However, Microsoft somewhere mentions it may be a bug and they working on a 'fix'.

As for the Mac OS Terminal command you sent could not be applied in Bash (without the 'sudo") as Bash is non functional.

    The problem continues to remain.

    Warm regards from Germany,

That's not only a mac OS command its for Bash Windows which in my case is Linux Ubuntu, I actually edited the command after posting and added sudo.

I installed Bash for Windows on My computer after reading your post and it worked fine, I would uninstall it and reinstall it if I were you.

I tried again - uninstalling and reinstalling - but no change.
I am not using Linux Ubuntu and I read it on another thread that reinstalling gets it to work on Linux Ubuntu.
There is more to this than meets eye, but I am far too fatigued to go after it tonight...

The Windows store has a choice of Ubuntu or 2 flavors of Suse , I'm guessing your following a tutorial for some other version.

I would find a tutorial that was made in 2018 or near the end of 2017

The Delta version of an update is for those computers that are fully up-to-date, probably means the previous update was accomplished, hadn't been skipped. The Delta is usually a smaller download.

@ sml156: Nope, I'm not following a tutorial, but building a website using Gulp and Git Bash has been a part of the the tools for that and other websites.

@ Berton: Hi, thanks for informing me about Delta, but that makes me wonder since I have automatic update for Windows as well as other associated products (Office 2016 etc.). So, whatever comes down the pipeline from MS is promptly installed. I remember it installed one at the beginning of Jan and then another around the 9th or 10th of Jan. Although I did read that the 'latest update' may not show up in 'ABOUT' or through 'WINVER' in some systems due to a 'BUG' and that they are working on a fix.

Eventually, I might even settle for a some other third party application. Of course not Cygwin as that is supposed to show the same problem.

    Regards,
