    Gmail account settings out of date - Windows 10 Mail notification.


    "Your Gmail account settings are out of date. We couldn’t access this account: Gmail. You might need to update your password or give the account permission to sync to this device".


    When I go to Settings>Accounts>Email and accounts, *** Email address is removed for privacy *** indicates “Attention required”. Clicking on this reveals “Manage” and “Fix”, click on Manage reveals a password box containing16 dots. Clicking on Fix reveals an empty password box, presumably for me, the account holder, to fill in.

    My login password consists of 10 alphanumeric figures, this allows me to access my Google account and log in to Gmail. So, can anyone explain the discrepancy between the 16 and the 10 because I can’t correct this Windows 10 Mail error message without knowing what the 16 dots represents.

    OR, failing that, has anyone got another solution to this: it seems to be a quite common problem, but I have yet to see a “Fix”. Is it one of these things that MS won’t admit to?

    In order to help you with the appropriate troubleshooting steps, please reply with the following information:



    • When do you receive the notification?
    • In which application are you receiving the notification?


    If you are receiving the notification in Mail App, I suggest you to refer the troubleshooting steps in the article

    Your account settings are out-of-date in Mail or Calendar for Windows 10     and see if that helps in resolving the issue.

    No notification banner in windows 10 mail app in gmail account

    Hello,

    I have noticed that recently my windows 10 mail app does not show the notification banner when I receive an email from a gmail account. In another outlook account it does appear. Notifications only appear when I manually open the app. The sync and notification settings on both accounts are the same. I've tried removing and re-adding the gmail account, uninstalling and reinstalling the Windos 10 mail app, resetting its settings, re-registering it, but nothing works. Any idea what happens?

    Potential Solutions

    Based on some quick research there may be two options that may help resolve this. . .

    1. Enable the 2-Step Verification functionality and security feature with your Gmail account and then use the 2-Step Verification to verify and trust the Windows Mail app to have access to your Gmail account
    2. Enable and use the Less Secure Apps functionality by turning that ON and using your usual Gmail account password with the Windows Mail app to authenticate
