Going BACK to Windows 7 from Windows 10

I purchased a new Lenovo Laptop that came with Win 10 64 bit.
Part of my "Computer room" is two other PC/Laptop with Windows 7 64 bit.
Since I got the Windows 10, it will not see, communicate with any other Win 7 so to move data, I have to do it manually with Flash drives and I am getting fed up with that method.
I have tried several forums including Microsoft and they do not have a CLUE.
My Windows 10 will not SEE my Routers HD, will not SEE to do a Network attached. ALL the Windows are happy seeing each other.

So this is my last attempt.

ANYONE know how to make Window 10 "play nice" and let the Windows 7 into sharing files, etc.?

IF not, anyone know how I should SAVE my keys for Windows 10 OS if Microsoft get this fixed and lets 10 join onto my Network.

    :)

  3. Going back from Windows 7 to 10 and back again to 7

Going to Windows 10 from 7 is a nightmare if you have slightly older peripherals and applications. 'On 'upgrading to 10', one monitor (SVGA input only), of my dual monitor system would not show a full screen, just a vestige. Several applications needed to
be reactivated. My 'adobe acrobat professional 7' will not function correctly and I cannot re-activate it. Adobe prompts you to activate but you can't do it on-line any more, so it tells you to phone. Adobe's telephone activation system in the UK has now been
pulled so I am left with a duff app that cost quite a lot of money a few years back.

Reverting back to Windows 7 has also caused major problems. Several of my applications again prompted me to reactivate. Adobe Acrobat 7 pro still doesn't work correctly. It still prompts me to activate, but how do I do it?

Microsof? When are you going to offer proper solutions to these issues? Thousands of upgraders are having similar problems.

    We need solutions, and fast!

  4. Going BACK to Windows 7 from Windows 10

    Hi,
I don't believe you'd need an activation key they are saved to MS servers.

    But you could
    A) Remove the existing ssd/ hdd and replace with a new and keep the original for another date.
    Or
    B) Create a system image to another external harddrive and load another win-7 on the original ssd or hdd.

Hi there. Do you use Defender? If so, is everything set ok in > Defender Security Center > Firewall &network protection?

If not, how about other firewalls?

Hi, lots of ideas and discussion on this older (solved) thread.
Cannot access shared network drive Solved - Windows 10 Forums

However, you presumably have the latest build, so some details may have changed, and it's worthwhile looking for more recent threads related to the most recent build (you can try using Advanced Search on this site to limit your search to a time period)

Going BACK to Windows 7 from Windows 10

What is strange is, I have a Win 7 laptop, HP, and Win 7 HP Desktop and my new Lenovo Win 10 Laptop that would not talk to any Win 7 devices.

The Win 7 Desktop has attached 3 HD in addition to the boot. One “D” drive, internal, two USB. One of the USBs is my “Network” drive I had to hook locally from my NETGEAR ROUTER, Replaced by my ISP when I went 1 gigabyte network as my Netgear router would not let my Desktop see my Network HD like my Linksys router would. So I had to REMOVE it from Netgear Router and attached the “network” HD to the Win 7 Desktop via USB.

Now to my Laptop with Win 10. IT would not recognize ANY Win 7 device, PC, USB, etc.
I put a "policy" on the Registry I found on SUPERUSER.
Now my NETWORK HD attached to my Win 7 Desktop directly can be SEEN by my Win 10 Laptop but not the OTHER USB HD attached to the Win 7 Desktop drives.
STRANGE to accept one of the three Win 7 Desktop USB HD while rejecting the other two HD, ONE INTERNAL, THE OTHER AN USB just like the one it accepts.
    .
Also strange is needing to FIX an issue NOT on a Windows GUI but having to modify the Registry constantly to fix Windows 10 as if Microsoft FORGOT lots of thing in 10 or did not include in their GUI to do something as simple as SHARING HD DRIVES ON A WIRELESS NETWORK ON THE SAME ROUTER between two OS so closely related.

  9. I to had the same problem when first upgrading my laptop to W10. My desktop was W7 Pro while the Laptop W10 Home. I could never get the W10 machine to see the W7 systems shared volumes. But I was able to get the W7 machine to access the W10 shared volumes where I could could move files back and forth under W7. Yes W10 had and still has issues on sharing on a LAN. And don't try to use Homegroup. That caused more errors on W10 than it was worth.

Now that both systems are W10, there are no problem. Truly amazing.

Is what you used documented someplace on W7 to W10 that did work? Sooner or later, we have to go to 10 but I try to delay that nightmare.
