Windows 10: Going from local to Microsoft account for log in with Win 11

My local Win 10 log in password is different from my Microsoft account password. A long time ago I used the netplwiz function to not have to enter a password when logging into Windows. I tried that function today and although the app pops up, there is no longer a block there to check or uncheck for having to enter your user name and password to check in. So I can't enter a check mark to require me to enter that information.I'm afraid to change my local pw now to my Microsoft acct pw as I'm not sure what would happen to the netplwiz entry I used with my old pw. I can't change my Micro

Just simply log in with your Microsoft Account.

Just go back to using a local account:

How do I register my PC with my Microsoft account?
But when I'm done, I'd like to use my local account each time to log in.
Please tell me how to do that.
I am very new at Win 10, and need step by step instructions.

Switch Back to Existing Local Account from Microsoft Account

I suggest that you follow the steps below and check if you can log into your computer using the Local Account.

• • On the Search Bar type “User Account”.
  • On the right menu pane locate and click “Make changes to my account in this PC”.
  • Then locate and click on “Sign in With a Local Account instead”.
  • And follow on screen instructions.
