Windows 10: Google Chrome: Block Video Autoplay

Not sure if everyone else is as annoyed by sites like CNN where videos play automatically, but I was elated to read that Chrome was going to allow blocking autoplay of videos.

When is that coming? I had read Jan 2018, but I can't find the setting.

Let me understand, if we want to stop these videos from playing, we need to use another browser like Firefox or Google Chrome? These commercials that autoplay on MSN.com, Yahoo.com etc. have been carrying viruses that trigger the screen to go dead unless
you call the Microsoft Support number, a known scam. Microsoft has no plugin to block these videos?

 

How Do I Prevent Autoplay?

I found an extension for Chrome that should do the trick. It is Video Autoplay Blocker by Robert Sulkowski.

 

Settings -> Advanced options ->Privacy and Security -> Content Settings -> Sound

 

That can help, but I thought a way to block videos was coming.
