Windows 10: Google Chrome Bookmarks

After last nights crash, I have my Bookmarks here on Chrome but not my latest ones. I have a saved backup of those Bookmarks and my question is as follows ...
Can I import from that saved file and if so, will the Bookmarks from that file simply over-write the ones I presently have here and add the new ones to the list here in Chrome.
Or do I have to completely delete my Bookmarks from Chrome and then retrieve them from the saved file.

Open your web browser

Click Customize and control Google Chrome button > Bookmarks > Bookmarks Manager.

Click on the Organise button > Reorder by title.

First I would backup what you have to a new backup. In my reading of Chrome it will duplicate, one article attached. This would imply you need to delete all and then do a full restore.

I searched merging bookmarks as that is what you would be doing by importing into an existing set.

It sounds like you don't log into Chrome. I do and as such books marks are in the cloud, ready for use on another machine or a new machine. I know not everyone wants to sign in, just thought I would mention.

Just to add to Ken's suggestion.....you have to allow sync in chrome for this to work. You can set what you want to sync. Once the sync is allowed it works exactly as Ken says.

It's never over till it's over. I've synced everything in Chrome and when I go to my secondary computer, my sites & themes are all the same. BUT ... mine opened tabs that I have opened on this computer are not opened on my other computer. Why is that and how do I overcome that?

 

Not so sure that feature works the way one would think on a desk top. There are a number of reports on searching topic... I just never really pursued.

What it does do, at least on my ipad, when I open a new tab, along the bottom I get a recent tabs and from there I can pick tabs from my different devices. (Mac, iphone, Windows Laptop etc.

 

I can do it manually ... just did it on my secondary laptop. I went to history, it give me to the option of "tabs from another device" and it does open up there what I have on my primary laptop. What it does though, it opens up twice. Weird.
I thought it would do it automatically. I've read it take a while for it to sync but have just read also there being more problems reported with it not working the way it should.
Strange ... the bookmarks, the themes are all synced. If you or someone else comes up with the solution, throw it out on here. Thanks for the reply!
