Google Chrome continues to dominate desktop browser market

Google Chrome continues to rule the desktop browser market according to the latest data released by NetMarket Share. Chrome has been able to increase its market share month on month and has taken a big stride from its competitors Firefox and Microsoft Edge.

Microsoft’s Windows 10 default browser Microsoft Edge has not been able to garner much market share in terms of users despite the Redmond Giant trying all ways to invite users to start using its Windows 10 default browser on daily basis.

Microsoft Edge’s market share has declined from 4.25 percent to 4.21 percent last month when compared to that of Google’s Chrome browser which has seen a growth from 62.77 percent to 64.47 percent.

The growth of Google Chrome has effected another default browser Mozilla’s Firefox which has seen its growth stagnant for sometime now, however is the most used web browser after Google’s Chrome.

Microsoft has launched its Edge browser exclusively for Windows 10 users as the default browser but hasn’t made the browser available for its older versions Windows 7 and 8.1 which still use Internet Explorer as the default browser.

Since its launch on Windows 10, Microsoft has been pushing very hard to make Microsoft Edge be adopted by more users with the company also pushing out the mobile version of the Edge browser on rival platforms iOS and Android.

This step hasn’t helped the growth of Microsoft Edge in terms of percentage and has not been able to challenge the growth of Google Chrome in spite of Microsoft pushing out new features and bringing it on par with the Chrome browser.

We expect Microsoft to keep working on adding new features like the support for Windows Hello to Edge browser and make it a strong alternative to Google Chrome. But in the current scenario Google Chrome remains the number one choice as the default desktop browser for users.

Google Chrome Overtakes Mozilla Firefox in Browser Market-share: StatCounter

That's why i started using chrome a while ago, i know there is always an extension to do something in Firefox, but at the end of the day i prefer it if the browser just happens to include these features.

There are other things that pushed me to chrome as well
    • Firefox 4-6 were full of bugs
    • The add-ons have to be updated manually in firefox
    • Google chrome will synchronise every single setting in the browser including the add-ons i have across all of my computers without a single add-on needed (to do the synchronisation of course, i still use them for other things)
    • Chrome works faster for me
    • Chrome has that brilliant start page
    • I could go on all day, there aren't any massive things Firefox is missing, it's all the small things it's missing that add up and make Google chrome better.

Google Chrome Overtakes Mozilla Firefox in Browser Market-share: StatCounter

According to the latest data sourced by StatCounter for the month of November 2011, Google Chrome has overtaken Mozilla Firefox in terms of web-browser software market-share. The GlobalStats data provides a worldwide picture, and not just specific to a region. According to the data, Chrome took 25.69% of the worldwide market (up from 4.66% in November 2009) compared to Firefox's 25.23%.

Microsoft's Internet Explorer still maintains a strong lead globally with 40.63%. Google Chrome began in mid-2008 as an experimental minimalist UI web-browser based on the Chromium project, it is a multi-process tabbed web browser based on Apple Webkit and several other pieces of free, licensed, and open-source technologies. Its market share is on the rise. The stats can be accessed here.

    problem uninstalling google chrome

    Hi,

Since you already uninstalled Google Chrome using the Programs and Features, Google notifications may still be running in the background processes. We suggest that you follow these steps on how to end the Google Chrome process:

    • On your keyboard, press Ctrl+Alt+Delete.
    • Select Task Manager.
    • Under Processes, locate Google Notifications or Google Chrome.
    • Right click on them and select End Task.
    • Double check under Programs and Features if Google Chrome is completely gone.

Let us know if these steps worked.
