  1. Google Chrome in my computer's regitry when I never downloaded it or installed it.

    Hello Microsoft Community,

    I have a question.

Recently I installed a software called "CCleaner" on my computer. When I installed it there was a check box on the installer that asked if I wanted google chrome installed too, and to make it my default browser. I very specifically unchecked the box because I don't like the lack of privacy controls in chrome. However, after installing ccleaner I found a google chrome key in my registry. (see image below)

When I tried to delete it, this is what I got. (see next image)

Not only that, but when I run ccleaner, it shows google chrome as one of the browsers that it is cleaning.

So my question is; Why does google get away with putting their key in my registry when I very specifically unchecked the box?

Next question; Why can I not remove it, when pretty much everything else in the registry can be deleted?

I do not like google, or their browser and I want everything having to do with google removed from my computer. There should be a way to block them from putting anything on my computer that I didn't ask for.

Any help with this would be very much appreciated.

    Edward

    problem uninstalling google chrome

    Hi,

Since you already uninstalled Google Chrome using the Programs and Features, Google notifications may still be running in the background processes. We suggest that you follow these steps on how to end the Google Chrome process:

    • On your keyboard, press Ctrl+Alt+Delete.
    • Select Task Manager.
    • Under Processes, locate Google Notifications or Google Chrome.
    • Right click on them and select End Task.
    • Double check under Programs and Features if Google Chrome is completely gone.

Let us know if these steps worked.
