  2. When will Edge browser render a Webm (aka VP8) video file?

It is still on a working progress and our engineers and developers are doing their best so that when the said feature will be released, there will be no any bugs or issues that may occur.

You may also see this link for more information:
Microsoft Edge to support Google's open-source WebM video format.

We will make sure to announce it so that you will be aware of it's release.

    Regards.

  3. Microsoft Edge always says "This type of video file isn't supported" when opening .webm files from Autodesk Inventor

If it is a "video file" it's possible a browser would not be the best choice of app anyway. Try the Store?...

Apparently there is an IE Add-on you could try too

    Good luck

I like it, good work MS.
Edge is a nice browser. You can zoom into - focus on articles ditching the peripheral junk.

WebM is an extension that enabled browsers to play multimedia... that includes (at some extent) HTML5.
I might be wrong though, but was the first thing that made browsers media players without third party add-ons (like flash)...
