    Got a ton of viruses

I installed the Win 10 Home Single Language from the downloaded iso. Was getting wierd error messages so updated Malwarebytes and ran a scan. It came up with about 15 trojans and worms which it got rid of. I thought this version of windows was supposed to have better security? I did disable UAC and Windows Defender because I got tired of all the popup messages.

    :)

"System" using a ton of data

Don't worry about it. It's different ISPs in a different region from me. It's just looking at faster potential options for them than DSL. But to get back on point, do you know if there is a way to get more granular data usage information from Windows?
The only thing that comes to mind to me is to dust off good old netmon and see what that tells me.

    Why break it down??????????

you have a drive, you have used space and free space

to clean up wasted used space do a complete disk clean up and delete old files and uninstall unused programs.

I see no logic of wanting to even know this, unless data was being stored on drive and no clue where it is from. Your pagefile also is a majority being used every minute.

Or is you think you were attacked with a virus or being intruded upon.

Even formerly legitimate software outlets are now serving up malware. They get paid to offer software salted with malware, popups, etc. Cnet, etc. Even "freeware" authors are doing this. They get extra money for embedding the crapware in their programs. You have to beware, don't install things by default. Read every message carefully as you install even pre-virus scanned software. Don't be a goldfish in a shark tank.

Using both Windows Defender and the paid version of Malwarebytes will block a lot of this, but you still have to beware.

I sure hope Ninite unchecks those crapware install boxes in Imgburn when installing. If not, you are in for a surprise. You will end up with unwanted popups, toolbars, OpenCandy, your search engine will try to change to Conduit, it will try to change your homepage, etc. etc. etc.

Best to avoid hosting sites like CNet & others. They have a habit of inserting PUP's into their programs via installers. I've posted this before, but have a look here to see how these unwanted programs try (& often do) find their way into your system.

Heres What Happens When You Install the Top 10 Download.com Apps

If you see a program you want on a site, try to find the home page of the company/author that issues the program. Note that this not always protects you from installing unwanted junk, but it reduces the risk of doing so, when compared with d/l ing from a host site.
