    Got a used Surface, met with screen asking for password


    Got a used Surface tablet (model number 1631 I believe says it's a Surface Pro 3) for pretty cheap recently, however when I try to boot it, it boots into a black screen with a blue password box, and a keyboard on-screen to type in. I'm guessing it's bitlocker, as I've seen some screenshots of it and it looks like it. When I try to boot into bios, it shows the same screen, and the same thing again when I try to use a windows installation USB drive. I don't care for the information on the system already, I just want a way to format the drive so I can install a new windows on it. Not sure what to try.

    Hi

    I've tried all of your suggested steps but when signing in still always get the message:

    "That password is incorrect. Make sure you are using the password for your Microsoft Account. You can always reset it at account.live.com/password/reset".

    I can log into Windows (10) with no problem once signed in.

    A slight concern I have is that the sign-in screen displays my MS email address and requires me to enter my MS password. I work freelance and have to use the Surface Pro in public places a lot... this is probably paranoia but it would be possible to pick
    up both just from watching me sign in (though you'd have to really want to, obviously).

    Thanks for your comments anyway... I'd appreciate other suggestions if you have any.
