Windows 10: gpt partition issue

I recently purchase a new ssd and decided to do a fresh install of windows on it, only to run into a host of unsolvable problems. Right off the bat windows refused to be installed on to my ssd, so I cleaned it, no effect. So i went into bios and changed from UEFI legacy to UEFI, no effect, so I converted it to mbr, this allowed me to begin an installation but unfortunately it was a short lived success and I was again put into the endless circle of windows install. I went into bios and the ssd was no longer listed at all in boot priorities, so I changed back to UEFI legacy again to access it and use it as a boot drive. It allowed me to put it as a boot drive but when restarted told me to use a supported boot drive. Im sure I did something wrong, is there anyway you tell me at what part of this process i took a wrong turn?

1. You cannot convert mbr to gpt without data loss. otherwise, you can follow directions here:

FROM WINDOWS RECOVERY CONSOLE:

To change a master boot record disk into a GUID partition table disk using a command line

• 
  Back up or move the data on the basic master boot record (MBR) disk you want to convert into a GUID partition table (GPT) disk.
  
• 
  Open an elevated command prompt (right-click Command Prompt, and then click Run as Administrator) and type diskpart. If the disk does not contain any partitions or volumes, skip to step 6.
  
• 
  At the DISKPART prompt, type list disk. Make note of the disk number you want to convert.
  
• 
  At the DISKPART prompt, type select disk <disknumber>.
  
• 
  At the DISKPART prompt, type clean.
  

2. I'd suggest converting your vista drive to a virtual machine, load that up on your windows 10 system and use a program like virtualbox to run it.

 

Convert only one partition on the disk from MBR to GPT

W7 Hard drive partition issue

to get rid of that 100 meg windows partition that setup creates for you on a new install on a blank hdd:

- press shift+f10 when on the partition management screen in setup <-- this opens a command prompt
- diskpart <-- start the windows command line partition management tool
- list disk <--- list the installed hdds in this computer for the next step
- select disk 0 <- might have to replace 0 with the number of the correct disk
- clean <-- this will erase all data on the disk you selected one step up- dont use the wrong disk!
- create partition primary <- creates a primary partition taking up all space on the drive, adjust the command if necessary
- exit, exit to exit diskpart and the command prompt
- click refresh in partition manager and select your newly created partition and install to that
