    GPU usage sky rockets to 100% when idle and doesn't show the applications that are using my gpu


    when on idle my gaming laptop's fans would spin randomly and super quickly and when i go to the task manager it shows 100% gpu usage and then it goes to 0% suddenly in the blink of an eye and it refuses to show me what processes are using 100% i have tried everything to check for the app that is using 100% but to no avail please help me

    dwm.exe 100% GPU usage GPU 0 - 3D

    Maybe the dwm.exe shows 100% gpu usage because nothing else is using the gpu at the time beside dwm.exe itself, hence the usage, when anything else uses the gpu it shows the real usage(I think)

    Hi kr1gsgaldr,

    I am Dave, I will help you with this.

    Open Task Manager, then select the Processes tab

    If you cannot see the GPU column, right click any column header and turn on the GPU column.

    Click the GPU column header so the arrow on that column points down.

    Leave Task Manager open, when you see the GPU spiking at idle, please provide a screenshot showing what process(es) is using the GPU
