    try to help my grandma

    my grandma have a laptop (HP pavilion dv2500) which is quite old,my grandma said that the laptop have so many valuable things inside and she said it stopped working over a year ago,when it boots up it will show blue screen of death,the error is 0x000007b

    Transferring 16 year old Camcorder tapes to my PC??

    I am trying to transfer all of my camcorder video tapes to my computer. I have a Panasonic PV-GS19 camcorder. It's almost 16

    years old. The manual says I need a 1394 (i.Link) and a DV cable. I have no idea what I'm doing nor can I find out how to

    Grandma asked me to help her upgrade to 10 but her PC is 16 years old.

    Upgrade 3+ year old 8.1 PC never started

    • I have new 64bit win 8.1 PC in box. 3+ years old. Never turned on.
    • I plan on upgrading to win 10. It has plenty of power and memory
    • I have a few questions regarding upgrade path:
    1. Start and do all win 8.1 updates first OR do win 10 upgrade as is?
    2. I assume I should do all hardware upgrades like bios, graphics card, and anything else Dell will "say" needs updating when I go to original config section on their site. Is that a correct assumption?
    3. Is there anything else I should consider?
    4. Whichever choice of upgrade path I take should I, or can I, do it in safe mode since I will not have configured any security software?
      • If yes to safe mode is there anything special I need to do regarding network connection when choosing safe mode?
