Grandma forgot her PIN. Windows 11 Bitlocker TPM only uses a PIN to login. The HP Envy will not factory reset, probably because of the TMP. Diskpart does not see the drive. I'm trying to get her new Windows 11 computer going without changing the hard drive. Maybe someone has a clue?

    Hi timboe,

    Welcome to the Microsoft community.

If you don't have the PIN then see this:

Reset your PIN when you aren't signed in to Windows - Microsoft Support

If you don't have the Bitlocker recovery key but you can still sign in then you are in luck. But you need to get that Bitlocker recovery key or turn off Bitlocker encryption entirely. Since it's a new computer you probably don't have many files on it yet.

If you can get into Windows then you should Back up your Bitlocker recovery key

There are many more security features on our devices and accounts nowadays and you need to keep your recovery codes in a safe place. You don't need to remember them but remembering your PIN makes things easier. A security key or fingerprint reader is also great to have.

I'll try to help you with any questions you may have.
