Windows 10: Gray Box when signing into xbox on windows 10

I am trying to connect my xbox live account to my pc in order to be able to use the xbox accecories app fully. I have purchased xbox live with my microsoft account that is linked to my pc, but I cannot connect the xbox live account. When I open the xbox app to sign in, it just shows a gray box that disappears. I can look at games and other things, but I can not sign into the "gaming account" even though I am signed into my microsoft account. When I try to sign into my gaming account, the gray box appears. In addition, when I open the xbox accecories app it says "something went wrong" and tells me I need to install the identity provider and xbox app, which I have installed and uninstalled in hopes of fixing the issue multiple times. Can't sign in to xbox app on windows 10 laptop

A corrupted file is one of the possible reasons as to why you can't sign in to the Xbox app on Windows 10. Changing some the network settings can help to resolve the issue. To change your network settings, kindly follow the steps below:

• Press the Windows key on your keyboard, and then type
  Internet Options in the search box.
