Windows 10: Green folders/encrypted contents locked on Win10 computer

Hey all,Just reaching out here for some additional info. My issue is similar to the one stated here with an extra twist:Files/folders turned green and unable to copy/open them - Microsoft CommunityThe proper fix appears to be turning off the file encryption for the folder/sub-folder/files; but this process is failing. I have about 20GB of files in a Desktop folder for a user that I am attempting to copy to a new workstation. - Files that are copied to new device, local device - new folder, or USB show up green and don't work. - Files on the local machine original folder in user Desktop are not

Encrypting a folder

Hello Bill,

To encrypt a folder in Windows 10 Home, follow these steps:

• Right-click the folder you want to encrypt and click Properties.
• On the General tab, click Advanced.
• Under Compress or Encrypt attributes, click Encrypt contents to secure data.
• Click OK then Apply to save the changes.

I right click on Properties, advanced, Advanced attributes but fin a greyed out box to Encrypt contents to secure data

Hi Bill,

To assist you better, I would like to ask some questions:

• Are you the Administrator of the computer?
• Are you connected to a domain network?

I suggest you to decrypt the folder by following the steps below and check if it helps.

• Right-click the folder or file you want to decrypt, and then click Properties.
• 
  Click the General tab, and then click Advanced.
  
• 
  Clear the Encrypt contents to secure data check box, click
  OK, and then click OK again.
