Windows 10: Grey screen after putting in pin

My laptop starts up perfectly fine, I enter my pin/password and it does the whole “welcome” thing, after about 10 seconds the entirety of the screen goes grey and stays like that. I have tried waiting to see if it is just loading and I have tried shutting down the laptop. Every single time it is the same thing. I desperately need this laptop to turn on and if it doesn’t I am not in the correct financial situation to buy a new one. Please help

If the pinned option in the app list is greyed out, it means the phone thinks it's pinned already.

Are you sure you've not inadvertently put it into a Live Folder on your start screen?

 

Pin to start greyed out

Usually when "pin to start" is greyed out, it's because that content is already pinned to the Start screen.

Try these steps:

1. Open Registry Editor.
2. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\System.
3. Set AllowDomainPINLogon to 1.
4. Close Registry Editor and reboot your system.

See if you can add PIN now.
