Windows 10: Grey screen on monitor 1 when videos are being played.

So whenever a video comes on browser or steam or other programs that show video's i sometimes have the monitor go completely grey. My second monitor, however, stays normal. Windows 11 continues to run as normal, but my 1st monitor is now completely grey and unusable.To fix it temporarly, i open up my display settings on the second monitor. Enable HDR, which my monitor and videocard support, and the screen comes back. Then i turn off HDR and it works as normal again.Updating Windows 11 and updating my videocard drivers have no effect. 1. May I know, which video player you are using to play the video?
   
2. Are you able to play the video on any other computer?
   
3. Are you facing the issue with only specific video or with all the other videos?
   

This issue could also occur when the USB or SD card is corrupted when you have transferred the video.

Try the troubleshooting methods provided below to further narrow down the root cause of the issue.

Method 1: Try a different video player.

1. Try to use a different USB to transfer the video, if you are playing it on other computer or device.
   
2. I suggest you to try a different video player and check if it plays.
   
3. You can also check on different device or computer.
   

Step: Run Windows Media player troubleshooter.

1. Press Windows + R key on your keyboard together.
2. Copy and paste the below command and run each at a time and follow the onscreen instruction on the troubleshooter
3. msdt.exe -id WindowsMediaPlayerConfigurationDiagnostic
4. msdt.exe -id WindowsMediaPlayerLibraryDiagnostic
5. msdt.exe -id WindowsMediaPlayerDVDDiagnostic
6. Reboot the computer and check.

I can't get a video to stream to my lg smart tv in full screen , it's playing full screen on the pc no problem

To assist you better, I like to know; how exactly you are trying to stream video from your PC to LG Smart TV?

As an initial step, I suggest you to try updating the display adapter on your system.

Follow the below steps:

• Click on the Start button, and type Device Manager on the search bar.
• Open Device Manager, expand Display Adapters.
• Find and double-click Display Adapters from the left panel to update.
• Right-click the device, and click Update.

As you are able to play the video full screen in your PC, then it might be an issue related to LG Smart TV. I suggest you to check for the LG Smart TV manual and check what all settings need to done to play video in full screen.

Black screen when playing video fullscreen in Windows 10

My Laptop has dual graphic card:Intel HD Graphics 530 and GTX 970m and I usually connect an external monitor to it, setting external monitor (noted as Monitor 1) as main monitor. Both monitors are on. But these days I found that when I play video fullscreen on chrome, the monitor will turn to black but audio goes on, ie. my computer cannot render video correctly. I tested several times and got some info:

1. When I set Monitor 2(internal monitor of laptop) as main monitor, the video is ok when fullscreen, no matter which screen you drag the chrome window into.
   
2. When the HD 530 is banned in Device Manager, ie. only GTX 970m working, it also works well.
   
3. I tried disabling Hardware Accleration as some solution instructed but seems this issue remains unsolved.
   
4. Playing video file (.mkv, .mpeg, etc.) with video player (Windows video player, Potplayer, .etc) never meets black screen.
   
5. Rolling graphic cards' drivers back has been tried but not working.
   
6. Edge as well as IE has same problem as chrome, so I guess the real problem is about video cards indeed.
   

Addition:

I seem to recall that weeks ago when I played web video fullscreen on Monitor 2 (which is not main), Windows crashed and went BLUE SCREEN. Though if Monitor 2 set as main the error would not occur according to my tests.

I really want to know why and how to fix. Thank you.
