    Grey X on some files WIndows 10


    After a recent update, some of files on desktop and on One Drive there is an 'X' at the bottom left of the file icons and am unable to open, copy, compress them.

    As you can see some of them do not have the X on them and they can be accessed.


    This is the situation with files saved on the PC Desktop, and other folders and also backed up on OneDrive


    I use Windows 10 and am subscriber of Office 365 now Microsoft 365

    Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

    Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK

    Unable to open Files in OneDrive Grey X

    Evening all,

    I've just been going through some of my files stored on OneDrive, and a considerable amount of data in my OneDrive folder won't open and is displaying a grey X in the corner is there any way for me to recover it?
