  1. Groove Music & Windows Media Player seem to share an 'add to library folder' & when you...

When I change the default folder that Groove music uses to add music files to its library, it also changes the Windows Media Player library folder by default as well & vice versa. It seems like it's a general windows 10 option to look where your default music library list is instead of a specific program option like it should be. I'm hoping to be able to have two entirely different libraries of music on two seperate music players without them affecting each other at all. Any way to make this possible?

    :)

    media player 'groove music'

    Just a slight correction :
Windows Media Player is listed in All apps > under alphabet W but not under Windows Accessories.

Not on my PC, which is a clean Windows 10 install. It is in the Windows Accessories folder as I indicated. Doing a search for "Windows Media Player" should also allow launching it.

Groove Music & Windows Media Player seem to share an 'add to library folder' & when you...

Groove and Windows Media Player will not let me add library locations and music will not play.

If I ask Cortana to play music, she opens Groove, then I get this error:

    "Try playing something else".

When I add any folder to the Music Library Locations in Window Media Player and then click OK, it is not remembered. If I reopen the Music Library Locations tool, the added folder is gone.

Same for Groove. In Groove, if I click "show us where to look for music", it suggests some folder that have music. If I select all of the folder and add my Music folder, and then click Done, the additions are not remembered. Same thing if I click "Show
us where to look for music". I add several music folders, but they are not remembered. and nothing is added to my library.

If I right click a music file, and then click Play in Media Player, the file does play, and it is added to the library, but no other songs are added.

I've tried deleting everything from here: C:\Users\me\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Media Player, including the CurrentDatabase_400.wmdb file.

    I've reset Groove.

This is a new Windows 10 computer (three weeks) running 1703. My previous computer played the files and updated the Media Library fine.

The music files are not protected. They are Mp3 files created from Vinyl and cassettes.

The music files are stored on the hard drive.

The music folder is added to, and does appear in the Music Library

The music folder and files security settings are full Access to everyone, including System and Admins.

I can play the music and add the library to other apps including MediaMonkey. Why can't I do the same with any MS Music apps?
