Windows 10: Groove now being able to adjust MetaData by WinBeta

The Groove Music team has been on a roll as of late cranking out several feature packed updates to the service and app. Today, the team continues its trend of steady feature releases by updating the app with the ability for users to edit the metadata on their files of music stored locally.
The ability to tamper with and adjust the metadata for music files has been a long awaited feature for users of Microsoft’s transitioning streaming music service and according to support engineer and forum moderator for Groove, Ellen Kilbourne, the new addition is currently rolling out to devices now. Edit metadata in Groove

Unfortunately, it looks like if it came from a online source, it won't allow you to edit the metadata. I imagine it's because there should be no reason to edit metadata from a curated source like the Groove music pass since they should be correct already.

I copied music from my desktop that was originally ripped from CDs years ago that I added metadata to on my own, and those are the ones I'm able to edit. I'm unable to edit metadata for songs that are on my OneDrive, even if I download it to my device through
Groove.

 

Is Groove Music app broken? It will not display any artist pictures and only about 80% of album art.

Groove (more or less) works with MP3 files (unless they are on a NAS or Windows Home Server), but it fails miserably at reading metadata from FLAC files. Given that Windows 10 now has native support for FLAC files, this is yet another indication that Groove
has a long way to go.

 

Cheers for the heads up. Wonder when this will come through as an update to those of us on normal non insider Windows. Checked both our machines this evening for app updates and not being offered yet.
