Windows 10: Grub rescue, partitioning, installer not finding hard drives.

Hard drive issues, Windows 10 not recognizing hard drives, grub rescue, please help!

Build:

i7-8700k EVGA RTX 2080 XC Ultra Samsung SSD 860 EVO - 500 Gb Western Digital HDD - 1TB

Okay, so this is long but I would like to provide context. To begin:

I partitioned my hard drive with Linux (Debian) so that I could dual boot as I’m studying for an internship. This was all working well until last night when I decided to download the COD MW update. I added volume to my SSD C: from an “empty” partition on the C drive (~30Gb). I was able to install the update, and turned off my computer afterwards.

This morning, I awoke to turn on my PC and was presented with a grub rescue page. I attempted the following commands with no avail:

Ls Set boot=(hd1,msdos2) Set prefix=(hd1,msdos2)/boot/grub insmod normal

This is where I got an error: file ‘/grub/i386-pc/normal.mod’ not found.

I attempted to ls my partition and only got: ./ ../ lost+found/ [my username]/

I got annoyed with this and didn’t have any pertinent files, so I decided to try and reinstall windows. I created a bootable USB and tried again. When faced with the windows installer I was given this error:

No device drivers were found. Make sure the installation media creates the correct drivers, and then click OK.

I attempted this again and my BIOS was showing my SSD. I looked up solutions and it told me to do a USB 2.0 port instead, but I unfortunately do not have those on my NZXT H500i case. Any and all help is greatly appreciated. Did I majorly fuck up?

error: no such partition, grub rescue mode......

my lenovo z500 hard drive crashed. so i replaced the hard drive. a friend of mine installed Linux Ubuntu and windows 7 on it. i decided to purchase windows 10 home full version. ubuntu did not work, so i tried windows 7, the instillation proceeded. as the
updates continued, the comp rebooted. the lenovo logo pops up then goes to "Error: no such partition, entering rescue mode... grub rescue>" what do i do? thank you in advance.

 

Grub rescue

My laptop is already in off condition, I'm not able to do the first step itself. As soon as I turn on the laptop, grub rescue command appears. What to do in this situation?

 

W7 Hard drive partition issue

to get rid of that 100 meg windows partition that setup creates for you on a new install on a blank hdd:

- press shift+f10 when on the partition management screen in setup <-- this opens a command prompt
- diskpart <-- start the windows command line partition management tool
- list disk <--- list the installed hdds in this computer for the next step
- select disk 0 <- might have to replace 0 with the number of the correct disk
- clean <-- this will erase all data on the disk you selected one step up- dont use the wrong disk!
- create partition primary <- creates a primary partition taking up all space on the drive, adjust the command if necessary
- exit, exit to exit diskpart and the command prompt
- click refresh in partition manager and select your newly created partition and install to that
